Share an asset for review, approval, or download.

Once your work is ready, you can share an asset with teammates or external stakeholders for feedback, sign-off, or final delivery. This is the master reference for sharing and covers every option in the share modal in detail.
How to Share
- Go to your Project Page and locate the asset.
- On the Asset Action (...) menu, select Share.
- Choose a share type, add the users or groups, and set the link options (below).

Recipients receive a notification and an email, and the asset appears on their Shared page. See Shared.
Tip: Prefer to share from the player? Open the asset in the review player, use the More Actions (...) menu, and select Share (or Copy Link). It opens the same modal described here — see Share Assets (in Player).
| Type | Use it when | Key options |
| Review | You want feedback or comments | Add users/groups · set Link Visibility · set Link Validity (1–120 hours) |
| Approval | You're requesting a final approval decision | Add users/groups · set Link Visibility · set Link Validity (1–120 hours) |
| Download | You need to hand off files for downloading | Add users/groups · set Link Visibility · choose Proxy or Original · optional passcode (8 chars) · set Link Validity (1–120 hours) |
For a Download share, the Share Type determines what the recipient gets:
- Proxy — a watermarked proxy version of the asset.
- Original — the original, un-watermarked file.

Link Visibility
Whether a recipient needs to sign in depends on the visibility you set when sharing:
Whether a recipient needs to sign in depends on the visibility you set when sharing:
| Visibility | Who can access | Sign-up / Sign-in |
| Private | Project members and the users you added | Required |
| Public | Anyone with the link | Not required |

Note: Passcode protection is enforced automatically based on visibility — it's mandatory for Public links and disabled by default for Private links, with the option to turn it on. ProView does not send the passcode for you; share it separately (email, message, or call). Non-Postudio users can use the passcode to download without signing up.
Watermarks
Assets shared for download carry security watermarks for protection and traceability. For exactly which watermarks appear, where, and on which asset types, see Security Watermarks.

FAQs
How long does a shared link stay active?
You set the Link Validity between 1 and 120 hours when sharing. If you don't set it, the link defaults to 48 hours.

The recipient can't open the link.
Check the Link Visibility: a Private link requires the recipient to sign in and be one of the added users or a project member. Use Public if they shouldn't need an account — and remember a Public link always requires the passcode you set.

Can I share from inside the player?
Yes. In ProView, use More Actions (...) → Share (or Copy Link). It opens the same modal with the same options covered here — the full walk-through is in Share Assets (in Player).
