Subtitle preview lets reviewers check timing, accuracy, and readability in real time while watching the video—improving subtitle quality and review efficiency.
Adding a Subtitle Track
Before adding a subtitle track, make sure the .vtt file has already been uploaded to the same Postudio project or folder as the video.

- Open a video asset in the Review Player.
- Click the Settings gear icon in the player controls (bottom right).
- Select Subtitles > Add New.
- A file picker opens showing assets within the same project. Select the .vtt subtitle file.
- Select the Subtitle Language.
- Add a Label to identify the track (e.g., English V1) — useful when managing multiple versions.
- Click Submit to attach the subtitle to the asset.
Permission: Any user with the View All Assets permission can add subtitle for preview.
Viewing Subtitles
- Click the Settings gear icon > Subtitles.
- Select the subtitle track you want to display.
- Subtitles will appear overlaid on the video during playback.
- To hide subtitles, select Off from the Subtitles menu.
Checking Added Subtitle Tracks
After a subtitle track has been added, you can review its details before activating it:

- Hover over a subtitle track name in the list to see the file path within the project (e.g. First Project/example.vtt). This helps confirm you've attached the correct file, especially when multiple versions exist.
- The currently active subtitle track is indicated with a checkmark (✓) to the right of its name.
- Subtitle tracks that are not currently active show an ⓘ info icon to the left of their name—hover over it to view the source file path.
Deleting a Subtitle Track
To remove a subtitle track from the asset:

- Click the Settings gear icon > Subtitles.
- Hover over the subtitle track you want to remove.
- Click the trash icon (🗑) that appears to the right of the track name.
- The track is removed immediately from the subtitle list.
Note: Deleting a subtitle track only removes it from this asset — it does not delete the .vtt file from your project.
Applies to: video assets only. Subtitles are not available for audio, image, or PDF assets.
Track-Based Commenting
When a subtitle track is active and you write a comment, the active subtitle track is captured as a chip in the comment input box. The same chip appears on the comment card in the sidebar—so anyone reviewing feedback can identify at a glance which subtitle version the comment refers to, without needing to open the comment.
To comment in the context of a specific subtitle track, make sure that track is selected in the player before typing your comment. If you want to switch tracks before commenting, change the selection in the player settings—the chip in the input box updates immediately. See Review Comments for full details.
