Organise project assets into folders, then label and colour them for quick scanning.

Folders keep a project's assets organised. You can create them at the project root or nest them inside other folders, and give each one a label and colour so even a large asset list stays easy to scan.
Open your project's Assets tab. You can start a new folder from either of two places:
- + New Assets (on the Assets toolbar) → Create Folder, or
- + New (top-right of the project page) → Create Folder

- Enter a folder name (max 30 characters).
- Click Create — the folder is added at your current location in the project.

Folders can group files by asset type, production phase, assigned member, or any scheme that suits your workflow.
Folders can live at the project root level and inside existing folders. Navigate into the folder where you want the new one, then repeat the same steps from either + New Assets → Create Folder or + New → Create Folder.

A folder's label and colour make up its Folder Metadata — the extra information that makes folders easier to categorise, search, and identify at a glance. For example, in a project of movies and shows, you might colour-code by primary language — English (blue), Hindi (orange), Tamil (yellow), Telugu (pink), Korean (red).

- In your project, locate the folder.
- Click Asset Actions (...) → More and select Metadata.
- In the Asset Metadata pop-up:
| Field | What it does |
| Folder Label | A separate identifier from the folder name, used purely for quick recognition |
| Folder Colour | The background colour for the label — agree on a scheme with your team to scan long lists fast |
| Apply label to the sub-folders | Toggle on to apply this label to the folder's sub-folders (the child folders inside it) |
4. Click Update to save — or Remove to clear the label and colour from the folder.

- Locate the folder.
- Click Asset Actions (...) → Organize → Rename.
- In the Rename Asset dialog, edit the Name field.
- Click Update.

Every folder has a unique ID, shown at the top of its Asset Actions (...) menu under Asset Details (for example, PSIIDHHYR21140). Click the copy icon beside the ID to copy it.
Include this ID when raising a support request — it lets the team locate the exact folder quickly, even when several folders share a similar name.

- Locate the folder.
- Click Asset Actions (...) → Delete.
- In the Delete Asset dialog, type confirm into the field.
- Click Delete.

Yes — folders can be created at the project root level and within existing folders. Navigate to where you want it, then use + New → Create a Folder.
No — the label is a separate identifier set in the Metadata pop-up and shown with its chosen colour. The folder keeps its original name.
Yes — deleting a folder permanently removes the folder and the data associated with it, including its contents. Move anything you want to keep out of the folder first.
The folder is simply renamed in Postudio, but if editors are working with it in the cloud systems (ProHub), their projects may still point to the original name. Coordinate with your editors before renaming folders that are in active use.
