Safe area guides display overlay grids on the video frame so you can check whether key content (titles, logos, action) falls within the safe zone for a given aspect ratio or delivery format.
Enabling Safe Area Guides
- Open a video asset in ProView.
- Click the Settings gear icon in the player controls (bottom right).
- Select Safe Area.
- Choose the aspect ratio guide you want to overlay:
| Guide | Common use |
| Off | No guide displayed (default) |
| 1:1 | Square (social media) |
| 16:9 | Widescreen (broadcast, YouTube) |
| 9:16 | Vertical (Reels, Shorts, TikTok) |
| 4:3 | Classic TV / Legacy formats |

The overlay appears on the video frame and remains visible during playback.
The currently active guide is indicated with a checkmark (✓) next to its name in the menu. The selected guide is also shown as a label next to Safe Area in the Settings dropdown (e.g. Safe Area — 1:1), so you can tell at a glance which guide is active without opening the submenu.
Turning Off Safe Area Guides
Open Settings gear > Safe Area > Off.
Open Settings gear > Safe Area > Off.
Applies to: video assets only. Safe area guides are not available for audio, image, or PDF assets.
