The Camera to Edit (C2E) workflow allows proxy files to be ingested directly from your camera to the Postudio platform. This seamless process eliminates delays and makes your media available for editing immediately.

Who Can Use C2E?

  • Project Admins have C2E permissions by default

  • Admins can assign C2E access to other Project members as needed

How to Start a Camera to Edit Session

  • Go to your Project Page

    • Click the + New button in the top-right, and select Create C2E Session
    • Otherwise, click on C2E Sessions tab, and select Create a session
  • On New C2E Session pop-up, select your camera model from the dropdown list

  • Optionally, select the Destination folder for uploaded files

  • Click Create to start a new C2E session

C2E Session Details

Once your session is created

  • Click C2E Actions (...) on the new C2E Session Card, select Share Session
  • You can see the following Hostname, Username, and Password on the Share Session card

Use these credentials to configure the camera or camera assistant system for real-time transfer to Postudio. Share these credentials with the camera person to begin uploading.

Session Management:

  • Active sessions can be paused or turned off when not in use

  • Sessions can also be deleted permanently if no longer needed

Connecting the Camera to the C2E Session

Camera Requirements:

  • Camera must support FTP uploading

  4. Enable DHCP in the WiFi settings

FTP Setup

  2. Set Default Server to Server Settings 1

  3. Enter the Postudio C2E credentials into Server Settings 1

  4. Load the certificate by clicking the Set button

  5. Once the certificate is loaded, the camera will connect automatically

  6. Enable Auto Upload (Proxy) to begin uploading proxy files automatically after each recording

  7. (Optional) Set a custom folder name inside the camera settings

Editing Workflow

  • Editors can access proxy files from the C2E folder within the Postudio cloud

  • Files are also available via the Premiere Pro Media Browser

  • Editors can use these files to begin editing and save their work as a new Premiere Pro project file

Preparing Files After Editing

After the edit is complete, follow these steps to save and organize your project files:

  1. In Premiere Pro, go to File > Project Manager > Collect Files > Copy to New Location

  2. Check the box for Exclude Unused Clips. This ensures only the media used in the timeline is copied.

  3. Set the destination path to the shared All Users folder

  4. A new folder will be created at the destination, named Copied_[project name]

This folder will contain:

  • A new, trimmed Premiere Pro project file

  • All the proxy files used in the final timeline

This process keeps your workspace clean and makes handoff or final delivery easier for the rest of the team.

FAQs

1. What if some files don't get uploaded via C2E?

If certain files were not uploaded due to network issues or interruptions during the Camera to Edit (C2E) session, you can manually upload the remaining assets using the Postudio Uploader App.

To upload missing files:

  1. Go to the Camera to Edit tab in your project

  2. Click on More Upload Options

  3. A pop-up will appear asking for Camera Details

  4. Select the camera model associated with the missed files

  5. Click Submit

This will launch the Uploader App, where you can:

  • Select and upload the remaining files directly from your local storage

  • Resume and complete the transfer process reliably

This ensures no media is left behind and your post-production workflow remains uninterrupted.
